It has been a strange spring for us here, and for the animals. One day it’s hot, the next cold. The rain has seemed relentless, and with all the rain comes an increase in mosquitoes. Bad for us, but good for the bats! In between caring for our orphaned and injured patients, we have been trying to keep up with repairs to several enclosures that have been damaged from the weather this year. Rotting wood, washed-out gravel floors, leaking roofs, rusted locks and hardware—these are just a few of the repairs we are making. And of course, animal care, and now repairs, requires funding.
Since we are a nonprofit, we do not receive state or federal funding. We are able to service southern New Jersey through vital donations by the general public. There are various ways to contribute to Freedom Center for Wildlife. You can help by making a cash donation via snail mail or online, purchasing FCW exclusive merchandise including our symbolic Animal Ambassador adoptions, or donating much needed goods that are listed on our wish list. If you have time to spare, another way to help is to donate your time and skills to FCW by becoming a volunteer year round or becoming an intern during the summer. We are also listed as an Amazon charity so you can donate to FCW by shopping online through smile.amazon.com. Favorite us as your eBay charity and make donations to FCW each time you shop on eBay or if you are a seller, you can donate a portion of your sales to FCW. Another way to help is to browse the internet through Goodsearch and a penny for each search will be donated to us. And just as important, if you are unable to do any of the things listed above, please tell your family and friends about us! Currently we are fundraising through Facebook for urgent repairs to our avian enclosures. Please consider making a donation today! We exist today because of supporters like you!
Fundraising events are another way we raise funds for our projects. This spring, we had our Annual Brunch with the Bunny event, with an egg hunt, our Animal Ambassadors, crafts and a bounce house for the kids, great food, and a Silent Auction filled with all sorts of goody baskets. If you were not able to attend this year, please try to come see us next April 13th for a great day with family and friends. More information will be available early next year! In the fall, we hold our Annual Oktoberfest, and we plan to have this event again later this year. More info coming in the next few months for this fundraiser too! Remember, we couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community, and YOU make it possible!
